Franklin Park Mothers Share Their Words of Wisdom

October 1, 2018

When it comes to life advice, mother knows best, right? Throughout our lives, moms are our inspiration, role models, and biggest cheerleaders. From teaching us how to tie our shoes to showing us what it means to be compassionate, moms are the master of it all. Here are 20 pieces of advice from some of our moms in the Franklin Park® community.

  • It’s ok to make mistakes, as long as you don’t let them define you.
  • Always make your bed before you leave the house. It is important to start your day on the right note.
  • Don’t stop learning. Educating yourself will allow you to do anything you want and go wherever you want to go in life. A great education is something no one can take away from you.
  • Travel when you’re young and able. Don’t worry about expenses – just do it. You’ll regret not going when you’re older. Experience is much more valuable than money.
  • Do one thing each day for yourself. Your body and mind will reward you.
  • Keep yourself moving. A walk each day will keep your body active and young. And, it’s easy!
  • When we were children, we often forgot to eat or sleep when we were having fun. Keep that attitude as an adult. Don’t tire your body with too many rules or routines – like bedtime or lunchtime.
  • Take the stairs and carry your own belongings. Your muscles will thank you.
  • Living long is wonderful. Work until you no longer have to provide for your family – and then work for the betterment of society. Volunteering can be an incredible experience.
  • Don’t worry. Just live.
  • Regardless of who enters or leaves your life, don’t lose sight of who you are.
  • It’s easy to have faith when things are going well. It’s a lot harder when things are not.
  • Say “I love you.” Just thinking it is not enough. Let your friends and family know how much they mean to you.
  • As Teddy Roosevelt said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” Don’t worry about what others do, what they have, or what they look like.
  • Take bad experiences as a learning opportunity. Use them as an opportunity to grow.
  • Manners are free and people will judge you by your etiquette. Always act appropriately. Making proper manners a habit will benefit you in the long run.
  • Learn to laugh at yourself.
  • Love what you do. Find a job that you absolutely love and you will never work a day in your life.
  • If it is meant to be, it will be. Go with the flow, and everything will work out.
  • Life is too short to frown.
